Toyota's electric vehicle lineup will expand with the upcoming arrival of the 2026 bZ Woodland, a rugged all-electric SUV that brings enhanced capability and power to the brand's battery-electric offerings. This new model combines the efficiency of electric propulsion with the utility features that drivers across Ontario expect from a modern SUV.
The bZ Woodland offers Toyota's most powerful electric vehicle to date, featuring a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system that delivers both performance and versatility. With its increased ground clearance, expanded cargo capacity, and advanced charging capabilities, this electric SUV is designed for drivers who need both daily practicality and weekend adventure capability.
The 2026 bZ Woodland features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain that produces 280 kW (375 hp), making it the most powerful bZ model Toyota has introduced. This electric drivetrain enables acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, delivering responsive performance for highway merging and passing situations.
The AWD system includes X-MODE, which optimizes brake control and power delivery at the wheels for enhanced traction. This system also features Grip-Control, a low-speed function that modulates motor power delivery to maintain constant speed in challenging conditions, allowing drivers to focus on navigation rather than throttle management.
The battery pack is positioned flat under the floor, creating a low centre of gravity that contributes to stable handling characteristics. A battery cross-framing structure adds overall vehicle rigidity for confident cornering and straight-line stability.
The bZ Woodland is equipped with a 74.7 kWh lithium-ion battery that provides a manufacturer-estimated driving range of up to 452 km. This electric SUV features a North American Charging System (NACS) port, providing access to DC fast-charging stations across Canada.
Under ideal conditions, DC fast charging can replenish the battery from 10% to 80% capacity in around 30 minutes. The vehicle includes a battery pre-conditioning feature that brings the battery to optimal temperature for fast charging, enabling more efficient charging in cold weather conditions. This function can be activated manually through system settings or automatically when the navigation system destination is set to a fast-charging station.
For home charging convenience, the bZ Woodland comes standard with a dual-voltage 120V/240V charging cable. The 11-kW on-board charger supports Level 1 and Level 2 AC charging, making it compatible with standard 240V household outlets for Level 2 charging at home.
The vehicle also features Plug & Charge capability, an industry standard protocol that enables automatic vehicle identification and payment authentication at selected charging networks, eliminating the need for separate charging cards or apps.
The bZ Woodland offers 2,120 litres of cargo volume with the second-row seats folded flat, providing 220 litres more space than the standard bZ model. This expanded cargo area accommodates camping equipment, sports gear, or larger shopping loads with ease.
Standard roof rails add versatility for carrying bicycles, kayaks, or cargo boxes. The vehicle provides 215 mm of ground clearance, offering improved capability for unpaved roads and winter driving conditions.
Towing capacity reaches 1,588 kg (3,500 lbs), enabling the bZ Woodland to handle boat trailers, utility trailers, or camping trailers. The electric powertrain delivers instant torque for confident trailer acceleration and hill climbing.
The cabin features a 14-inch Toyota Multimedia touchscreen as the central interface for navigation, entertainment, and vehicle settings. The system includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, allowing smooth smartphone integration without cable connections.
Dual wireless Qi device charging pads keep smartphones powered during drives. Four USB-C ports (two 15W front, two 60W rear) provide additional charging options for passengers. The system supports dual Bluetooth phone connectivity, enabling two devices to connect simultaneously.
Digital Key capability allows drivers to use their smartphone instead of a physical key to lock, unlock, and start the vehicle. This feature also enables easy vehicle access sharing through the Toyota App.
The Toyota App provides remote climate control, including the ability to activate seat heaters, steering wheel heater, and defroster before entering the vehicle. Remote charging capabilities allow drivers to check charging status, start or stop charging, and edit charging schedules from their smartphone.
Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 comes standard on the bZ Woodland, providing a suite of active safety features. Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control maintains a preset distance from vehicles ahead at speeds above 32 km/h, using vehicle-to-vehicle distance monitoring.
Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist detects lane markings at speeds above 50 km/h and provides audible and visual warnings if an inadvertent lane departure is detected. If no corrective action is taken, the system provides gentle steering assistance to help maintain lane position.
Lane Tracing Assist works with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control to help keep the vehicle centred in its lane. Road Sign Assist uses the forward-facing camera to recognize speed limit, stop, and yield signs, displaying this information on the Multi-Information Display.
Additional safety features include Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, using rear side radar sensors to assist when changing lanes or backing up. The Panoramic View Monitor with Multi-Terrain Monitor provides multiple camera angles to help drivers navigate tight spaces and challenging terrain.
bZ Woodland AWD
The base bZ Woodland grade includes 18-inch aluminum wheels with removable aero covers, SofTex-trimmed seats, and heated front seats with heated outboard rear seats. The 8-way power-adjustable front seats provide comfortable positioning, while the heated steering wheel adds cold-weather comfort.
Dual-zone automatic climate control allows driver and passenger to set individual temperature preferences. The Smart Key System operates on all doors and the rear liftgate for convenient access. Customizable ambient interior lighting creates a personalized cabin atmosphere.
bZ Woodland Premium AWD
The Premium grade adds ventilated front seats and a front-seat radiant foot and leg heater for enhanced comfort. The driver seat includes memory function, with auto-tilt exterior mirrors that also feature memory settings. A digital rearview mirror with HomeLink provides improved rear visibility and garage door control.
The JBL 9-speaker audio system includes a subwoofer and amplifier, delivering 800 watts of audio power. A panoramic fixed-glass roof with power sunshade creates an open cabin feel while maintaining climate control. All-Terrain tires are available on the Premium grade, providing enhanced off-pavement capability with a manufacturer-estimated driving range of 418 km with this option.
The 2026 Toyota bZ Woodland starts at $59,900 for the base AWD grade. Exterior colour options include Stepping Stone, Halo, Steel, Pavement, Raven Black, and Trueno Blue. Interior seating colours include Stone Brown and Black.
