The New Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid in Detail

The Toyota Corolla Cross adds a new hybrid version to its lineup for 2023 in order to be even more fuel efficient and eco-friendly than before.

The hybrid powertrain

The new Toyota Corolla Cross hybrid is powered by a fifth-generation hybrid system that combines a 2.0L gasoline engine and three electric motors. This powertrain can deliver a maximum output of 194 horsepower to all four wheels via the standard all-wheel-drive system. This is sufficient to give the Corolla Cross Hybrid a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of only 8.2 seconds. Of course, this powertrain will return a higher fuel efficiency than the regular version of the Corolla Cross, with an estimated combined fuel consumption figure of 6.4 L/100 km.

All of the expected features

Like the Corolla Cross, the new Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid is equipped with all of the features that are expected in a vehicle of this category and more. This means that the entry-level SE will be equipped with an 8-inch touch screen, LED headlamps and taillamps, heated front seats, and a smart key access system. The more upscale XSE model will add styling elements such as 18-inch wheels, fog lamps, and a softex upholstery for the interior. The additional comfort and convenience features included in this trim level include the dual zone automatic climate control and the power driver’s seat, among others. The Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite of active safety systems is standard on both versions.

A brand-new infotainment system

The new Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid is among the first vehicles to feature the new Toyota Multimedia infotainment system. This technology includes the wireless versions of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and the new hands-free voice commands function that can be used by saying “Hey Toyota”. This new infotainment system is also capable of being updated over the air, which means that the Corolla Cross Hybrid will be kept up to date longer than previous Toyota models without having to visit a dealer to have the latest software installed.
