2020 Toyota RAV4 vs 2020 Hyundai Tucson

2020 Toyota RAV4 vs 2020 Hyundai Tucson

The RAV4 provides many reasons it is a top-selling SUV in Canada. When shoppers drive a RAV4 for the first time, they understand why it’s so fun. Plus, it is assembled right here in Ontario! Power options, efficiency, performance, utility and more also differentiate it from the competition. Here, we present the 2020 RAV4 in a head-to-head comparison with the 2020 Hyundai Tucson to help you make an informed decision about your purchase.

The 2020 Toyota RAV4 has a trim line that fills many needs

If you plan to invest in an SUV, it must offer the right mix of features that will serve your family for years to come. The RAV4 includes nine different trim offerings compared to the Tucson’s five. This includes six gas-powered and three hybrid options. It is tough to beat the value and equipment versatility of nine different models.

New for 2020 is the RAV4’s TRD Off Road trim, which has no comparison in the Tucson model lineup. It includes Standard Dynamic Torque Vectoring AWD with Rear Driveline Disconnect and a Multi-Terrain Select mode. It also includes heated and ventilated seats for all-season trail driving. Along with the powerful engine and 213mm of ground clearance, you’ll be riding 50mm higher and climbing more confidently than in the Hyundai Tucson.

The 2020 Toyota RAV4’s power, efficiency and capacity are on another level

There isn’t much of a horsepower and efficiency competition between the RAV4 and Tucson. The RAV4 begins with a 2.5L four-cylinder engine that produces 203 horsepower. That’s over 42 more horsepower than the Tucson’s entry-level engine and over 20 more than its most powerful variant. The RAV4 Hybrid’s 219 net horsepower leads the pack. The additional horsepower in the RAV4 boosts your driving possibilities.

The gas-powered AWD RAV4 achieves a fuel efficiency rating of 9.2/7.1 L/100km (city/highway), and the lone FWD model rates even lower. The Tucson’s 2.0L FWD achieves 10/7.9 L/100km, which is actually higher than the AWD RAV4, and the 2.4L rises up to 11/9.1. The RAV4 Hybrid achieves 5.7/6.3, which is in a class all by itself.  Moreover, the Trail variant of the RAV4 can tow up to 3500 lbs, that’s more than double the weight that can be towed with the Tucson

Cargo capacity behind the RAV4’s front/rear seats reaches 1877/1059 litres, compared to just 1754/877 litres in the Tucson. The RAV4 offers you more utility when you need it.
