Holiday Road Trips With the Whole Family: Why the 2026 Toyota Sienna Seats Up to Eight

The holidays mean full houses, packed trunks and long drives to see the people you love. When the whole family is coming along, seating space quickly becomes the top priority. Squeezing three kids, two grandparents and a pile of gifts into a small SUV is nobody’s idea of a relaxing trip.

The 2026 Toyota Sienna is built for exactly this kind of drive. Select grades seat up to eight people, every model runs on an efficient hybrid powertrain, and the cargo area swallows luggage with room to spare. Here is how the Sienna handles a big family road trip and which grade fits your crew best.

Room for Eight

The LE and XLE grades seat eight passengers. That extra seat makes a real difference over the holidays. It can mean taking one vehicle instead of two, which keeps everyone together and saves fuel.

The XSE, XSE Technology, Limited and Platinum grades seat seven. Their seven-seat layout suits families who do not need the eighth seat and want the features these grades bring.

Space for Gifts, Bags and Gear

A full cabin still needs a place for luggage. With all three rows in use, the Sienna offers 949 L of cargo space behind the third row. That handles suitcases, a cooler and a stack of wrapped presents.

When you need more room, fold the third row to open up 2,129 L behind the second row. Behind the first row, the Sienna offers 2,860 L, which is plenty for bulky items picked up along the way.

The LE grade adds a power back door for 2026, so loading bags with full hands is easier. The XLE adds a kick sensor-activated power back door and kick sensor-activated sliding side doors.

Efficient Hybrid Power for Long Drives

Every 2026 Sienna is a hybrid. A 2.5 L 4-cylinder engine works with two high-torque electric motor/generators to produce 245 system horsepower. Front-wheel-drive models are rated at 6.6 L/100 km combined, and all-wheel-drive models at 6.8 L/100 km combined. A 68 L fuel tank comes standard.

For holiday travel in winter weather, the AWD models use Toyota’s electronic on-demand all-wheel-drive system. It automatically sends torque where it is needed based on road conditions.

Comfort Features Everyone Will Notice

Long drives go smoother when everyone is comfortable. Even the LE grade comes well equipped:

  • Three-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats and a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel
  • Power sliding doors, rear quarter window sunshades and an eight-speaker audio system
  • Toyota Multimedia with an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a wireless phone charger

The XLE steps up to a 12.3-inch touchscreen, four-zone automatic climate control, SofTex upholstery and a power moonroof. Four climate zones help keep both the front row and the back rows comfortable on a long trip.

Safety for the Whole Family

When you are carrying the people who matter most, safety comes first. Every 2026 Sienna includes Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, a suite of active safety features that supports driver awareness. Other standard features include the Toyota Star Safety System, a backup camera, 10 airbags, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and an engine immobilizer.

Which Sienna Is Right for Your Family?

If you need every possible seat, choose the LE or XLE. Both seat eight. The LE is available with AWD for added winter confidence, while the XLE adds a larger screen, four-zone climate and more convenience features.

If you prefer a seven-seat layout, the XSE, Limited and Platinum grades give you that option, with AWD available on the XSE and standard on the Limited and Platinum.

No matter if you travel across town or across the country for the holidays, the Sienna gives your whole family room to ride together.
