New Toyota RAV4 Prime PHEV unveiled in Los Angeles

Toyota unveiled a brand new version of its popular RAV4 at the Los Angeles Auto Show this week, and at the same time became the star of the California show. The Toyota RAV4 Prime is a logical continuation of the very popular RAV4 hybrid, but it is more powerful, offers more range and offers impressive new features.

Under the hood, it combines a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with an electric motor for a total power output of 302 horsepower and a range of more than 60 kilometres. Its exceptional power allows it to reach 100 km/h in about 6.0 seconds which is simply phenomenal for a plug-in hybrid SUV.

It will offer a wide selection of versions with advanced technologies including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto systems and the first head-up display system in a Toyota RAV4. All-wheel drive will be standard as will a host of advanced safety technologies with the TSS 2.0 system.

The starting price of the Toyota RAV4 Prime PHEV has not been confirmed but is expected to be eligible for the IZEV program which means a $5,000 rebate.
