This is the new 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander

Introduced prior to the opening of the Chicago Auto Show, the all-new 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander is a much more spacious, much more versatile Toyota SUV that will fit between the current three-row Toyota Highlander and the larger Toyota Sequoia. The new Grand Highlander will deliver significantly more cargo space and passenger space compared to the Highlander and will also deliver remarkable connectivity and safety features. This is more than just a spacious new Toyota SUV, it is also a very luxurious new model that will be joining the Toyota lineup later this year. Let's take a look at what stands out about the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander.

Impressive new Hybrid MAX powertrain part of a trio of available engines

We will start under the hood of the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander where we find a trio of available powertrains, one gas-powered engine and two hybrid motors.

The entry-level gas engine will be the same one that powers the current Highlander and that was introduced last year. This particular powertrain delivers an impressive 264 hp along with 310 pound-feet of torque. The next available powertrain is a 2.5-litre hybrid that we find in the current Highlander and that stands out with an average fuel consumption rating of 7 L per 100 km.

The highlight of the new 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander is definitely the new Hybrid MAX powertrain. This very powerful engine pairs the aforementioned 2.4-litre turbo with an electric motor to deliver an impressive 362 hp and 400 pound-feet of torque. This means the new 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander will be one of the most powerful three-row SUVs with Toyota claiming a 0 to 60 mph time of 6.3 seconds.

All of the interior space you need

The 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander offers more interior space than the current Highlander, and it also offers more available cargo space. With 2,775 litres of total cargo capacity behind the first row, you get roughly 300 extra litres of cargo space compared with the current Highlander. Most of that additional space will be found behind the third row where Toyota says seven carry-on bags can fit. The second and third rows will also be quite welcoming with Toyota saying that even adults will be very comfortable in the third row on long journeys.

The 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander will be offered with space for eight passengers as standard with available captain’s chairs for the middle row.

Premium comfort and connectivity features in the 2024 Grand Highlander

The 2024 Grand Highlander won't just be spacious, it will also be very luxurious. It gets a wide range of standard and available features such as heated front and second-row seats, ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, leather seating, 10-way power front driver seat and 8-way passenger power seat, panoramic sunroof, and dual-zone climate. 18-inch wheels are standard in the base XLE trim, but the Grand Highlander will also be available in Limited and Pinnacle trims that get their own set of 20-inch wheels.

The 2024 Grand Highlander also stands out when it comes to safety. It gets the latest suite of Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 active safety technologies. This will give the new Toyota Grand Highlander the latest Toyota driver assistance features such as automatic braking with pedestrian and cyclists detection as well as radar-based active cruise control with full-speed compatibility. The new Grand Highlander also features standard blind spot monitoring and access to the full suite of Toyota Connected services.

Last but not least, the new Grand Highlander gets the brand-new Toyota Multimedia infotainment system with advanced “Hey Toyota” voice commands, cloud-based navigation, over-the-air updates, and an available digital key that lets you unlock and start your vehicle using your mobile phone. We should also add that wireless cellphone charging and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard.
