Toyota announces new electrification strategy

Toyota and CEO Akio Toyoda made a significant announcement this week, introducing a full range of new Toyota electric vehicles and promising to invest $70 billion in the development of electrified technologies by 2030.

Half of that money will go battery-powered electric vehicles of which a total of 30 are planned before the end of the decade.

Toyota also unveiled numerous concept vehicles that provide a glimpse into the company's electrified future. Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda says that the company plans to offer an electric vehicle for every need, and that was evident with the models that were introduced this week.

Among the highlights of these concepts are the impressive Toyota electric pickup truck, that looks like a cross between the Toyota Tacoma and the all-new Toyota Tundra with a short bed and a double cab, this truck would be a huge hit as the latest electrified pickup.

Toyota also showed a stunning performance car that has all the looks of a hybrid car. There is also a range of sport utility vehicles including a full-size electric SUV and a more rugged model that looks like it could replace the Toyota FJ Cruiser.
